I’m Just Going to Wing It

If there was ever a perfect description of my life “Winging It” would be it. Why? According to UrbanDictionary.com “winging it”  is to “Improvise with little preparation”

At this point in life, I am 30 years old, single, working 2 sometimes 3 jobs, and trying to love it. I mean, I’m 30 and thriving, right? I have a great career, love from my family and friends and nothing tying me down. What is not to love?

But this wasn’t the plan, was it? I was supposed to find some great love in college or shortly after, date a few years, get married, enjoy a few years married and then have kids in my early thirties. That was the plan, right? Well, it was the plan, but as I have learned in the last few years, not everything goes as planned and you have to be able to wing it.

A little over a year and a half ago I quit a job that had made me unhappy with no plan for where I would go next. Luckily, this worked out very well, as I was hired back at a previous employer and became an event planner for educational events. It is within this role I have learned it does not matter how much you plan every detail of an event, something will not go as planned and you have to be ready with a solution and to improvise.

I quickly saw how much event planning mirrors life. You can make all the plans in the world, but that does not mean life is going to go the way you want.  I spent so much time being upset that life wasn’t going as planned. But in the wise words of John Lennon,

“Life is what happens to you while you’re busy making other plans.”

Join me as a navigate my way thru life by winging it.
